Mother at 48

He is healthy and developing well. He is a very happy and curious child. He is a miracle! … I would like to tell my story “How I became a mother at 48”.
I would like to tell my story “How I became a mother at 48”. When my boyfriend and I broke up in 2004 I was certain that it was too late to become a mother. We had tried to become pregnant, but we did not succeed. As my boy friend is catholic he would not agree to IVF.
During spring 2005 I met some single mums that had been to “Storkkliniken” in Denmark and I decided to try insemination at “Storkkliniken”. I actually tried 10 times but did not succeed. I had also heard about women adopting children on their own. I attended a course for single women wanting to adopt. I was aware of that my age might be a problem. So it was. When I finally had my second meeting with the family rights unit in my council, they told me that I was too old to adopt. By this time I was quite low and thinking of giving it all up.
During spring I had had contact with a dr. in gynecology in Sweden. He had said to me “If I were you, I would save my money and go to St Petersburg. To make an embryo adoption is your biggest chance to become a mother.”
I contacted Dr. Olga Zaytseff at the AVA-Peter Clinic and made an appointment with her. I then decided to go ahead with en embryo adoption. The first attempt failed. The second time was successful, but I had a miscarriage. The third time was successful and I became a mother to Anton in July 2010.
All the contacts with the doctor Olga and the nurse Julia were very positive. I felt that I was in good hands and that the staff was very professional. I also found them very understanding and empathetic. I once had some problems with bleeding and then I got excellent help from Dr. Olga. I never felt alone during the process thanks to her.
Now Anton is 5, 5 months. He is healthy and developing well. He is a very happy and curious child. He is a miracle! I am so happy and thankful to all who made this possible.
